ISRAEL’S CHIEF SCIENTIST AWARDED ISRAELI “PRODUCT” AND “COMPANY” OF THE YEAR FOR GLOBAL NANOTECHNOLOGY BREAKTHROUGHS
Qlight Nanotech Wins “Company of the Year.” Vulcan Automotive Industries Ltd Earns “Product of the Year” Award
Israeli Chief Scientist Avi Hasson awarded Qlight Nanotech the Israeli “Nanotechnology Company of the Year” for its significant progress since its invention of the semiconductor nanocrystals that enables far superior image than present state of the art for computer screens, flat panel displays, cellular touch screens and others. The technology was originally invented and developed by Professor Uri Banin from the Center for Nanotechnology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The “Nanotechnology Product of the Year” was awarded to Vulcan Automotive Industries Ltd. for its revamped Volta Battery with significantly improved performance – made possible through the use of smart nanotechnology material in collaboration with leading researchers from the Bar Ilan University.
Vulcan Batteries Ltd succeeded in improving their battery performance and increasing their loading and unloading cycles by 100%, making the company a world leader in the field of automotive batteries and other applications. The battery was developed within the framework of Israel’s Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) MAGNET program and the Nanotubes Empowerment Solutions (NES) Consortium.
Vulcan Industries has recently signed a strategic agreement with a global European leader in the field which will enable further development of the product.
“Since the Israeli government declared nanotechnology a national priority nearly a decade ago, there has been a revolution in the industry in Israel,” said Chief Scientist Hasson. “Today, there are about 700 faculty members at nanotechnology centers in leading academic institutes all over Israel and over 1,200 graduate students studying in this field. No fewer than six nanotechnology centers were established in Israel over the past seven years, and these are now considered among the leading centers in the world in their field commande de viagra. The Office of the Chief Scientist takes pride in these achievements, which are the direct result of the initiative, leadership and financial support of our office in the Israeli Ministry of Economy as well as other government agencies.”
Regarding the winning companies, Chief Scientist Hasson added: “Qlight Nanotech has become an innovative world leader for breakthroughs in material applications including nanotechnology-assisted touch screens. The company has revolutionized this field. The Vulcan battery is a milestone for the country’s long-established traditional industries, proving that breakthrough technological developments have the power to revitalize companies and turn them into leaders in their field, even within traditional industries.”
